Child safety is the heart of My Precious Kid®. My goal is to make is easy for you as parents to protect your children every day. As a mother of 4 unique children I know the fear of that moment your child is separated from you in a crowded place. What can we do to make sure Child Safety is covered in your family? What If Game - Child Safety can be aided by teaching your children the "What if" game. I ask my daughter who is four, "What if we are shopping and mommy gets lost?" She says "I find another mommy (with kids) and take off my shoe and ask her to call your cell phone!" You can play this game for all kinds of situations so your children know if advance what to do to stay safe. Shoe ID Stickers hold family contact numbers.

Physical ID - Child safety can be accomplished by making sure your child wears a physical ID every single day.  A physical ID helps you child if separated from you by giving them and a trusted adult all the contact phone numbers for your family. Just last week I heard of a young girl who was separated in the mall while shopping. Another mom found her and used the ID on the child. The ID gave the woman's the mothers cell phone number which led to a quick reuniting.

Car Seat Safety - Child safety can be increases in the car. I know the odds are greater that I will be in a car accident with my child then of her being abducted. On her car seat is a ID Card that includes her photo, height, weight, doctor contact info, family contact info, and medical release signature. The medical release signature lets doctors treat her instantly even if I am not able to speak for her or sign. The family contact numbers let them reach my husband or mom to come get her.

ID Card - Child safety can be increased in my family by carrying an ID card about my child in my wallet at all times. If she gets separated from me in the mall the ID card will show the authorities her picture, weight, and height quickly. In a moment of panic it is hard to recall your child's information. Have it at your finger tips.

WALK or DRIVE them to and from school and the bus stop. In this day and age it is not safe to let our kids walk alone or wait alone for a bus.

IDENTIFY - Use shoe stickers to identify all their belongings with your family name and several contact phone numbers. Do not however have the child's name in plain view to strangers (on back packs and lunch boxes). Put the info INSIDE.

LABELS - We label our kids clothes and belongings. Lets also protect our children by having them all wear a physical ID everyday at school. That can be an ID Bracelet, Shoe stickers or tags. This leaves your contact phone numbers with your child at all times. Child safety is so important.

TEACH your children what to do if they are ever lost. I teach my daughter to find another mommy and take off her shoe and ask the mom to use the sticker information to call me on my cell phone.

CODE WORD- Teach them to never go anywhere with someone they do not know. Have a family safety CODE WORD that only family members know.

FRIENDS - Know your children's friends, their names, addresses, and phone numbers. Remind them they are to never go to a friends after school without calling home FIRST!

DAILY PLAN - Talk each morning about the days plans and remind them to call you BEFORE changing any part of the daily plan.

MEDICAL RELEASE - Give every person who ever cares for your child in your absence a Medical Release ID Card. It contains a medical release signature that lets authorities treat your child in your absence plus all your family contact numbers. One goes to school, scouts, daycare, sports, preschool, church, grandma, and anyone else who has your child with them.
