CHILD AUTISM SAFETY - Our goal at My Precious Kid is to help keep every child safe. Children with autism have special needs that need to be addressed in order to keep them safe. Every child with autism is different and will need products that fit their needs. The information below is our suggestions for children with autism but may also be helpful for children with Down syndrome or other special needs.

CHILDREN WITH AUTISM - In order to offer you
the best advice for keeping your children with autism safe we have talked
with Lauren Padgett, mother of a child with autism. She uses My Precious Kid
products to protect her son. Below you will find the products she suggests

AUTISM SAFETY PRODUCT #1
Child Safety Pack – Hands down, this is my number 1 choice for Lucas! We
have his DNA & Fingerprints on file, and the 3 ID cards work for our family
(1 for Lucas’ wallet, one for my wallet along with the Medical Release card,
and one for my husband’s wallet). The Safe Shoes stickers are in Lucas’
favorite pair of sneakers.
We supplement the above with:

Both of these kits have 5 cards each in them, and we have a combination ID
card/Medical card in each of our cars, with Lucas’ older brother, with his
teacher & with his grandparents, just in case!

Shoe ID Tags – This is Lucas’ favorite! He wears a shoe ID tag on his
belt every day, and because his autism creates a need for consistency, once
he started wearing it, he can’t leave home without it now! Its flexible
nature means it doesn’t dig at him or make him uncomfortable in any way, and
while some kids may prefer this tag on their shoes (where it was meant to be
worn), Lucas’ belt loop provides the perfect spot for him to wear it.
When Lucas was young, and was a “runner”, we would have jumped at:

Child Locator – This would have been perfect for Lucas before he was
able to “stay with the group” (either at home or at school!) I believe that
with Lucas’ sensory issues, the sound this little bear makes when Mom
presses the button would have encouraged him to stay put, just so he didn’t
have to hear it again!! Wish I had known about it years ago.
Other Products for children with autism:
Since children with autism ALL exhibit their symptoms differently (remember,
it’s a “Spectrum”), they have varying product needs. As someone who has
worked with these children and their parents for 16 years, my other product
choices follow.

Door Alarms
Enough said! For every parent with a “runner” on their
hands!
My Precious Kid has this small wireless door alarms, a Key pad alarm and a
door jam alarm for hotel travel.

Dog Tags – For any child who can wear this on their clothes (belt loop
behind them out of sight from the child) or their backpack, this
colorful dog tag helps let authorities know that, for instance, “Lucas is
autistic, may not respond to verbal commands”. In this day and age, and
especially with an older child, schools can get very uncomfortable with a
kid who doesn’t appear to be following the rules. This tag will help explain
things to personnel easily and quickly.

Reward Chore Chart – If your child is ready for a picture schedule at
home, try this one! Its colorful, easy to understand format is perfect for
children with autism. Start slowly, with just one or two items under each
category. Once your child masters these and sees that they get rewarded for
doing their chores (Lucas used to get an “M&M mini” for each item on his
list that he successfully accomplished, then we moved on to money for him to
buy things with!)

RETURN POLICY
RETURNS are accepted within 30 days of order, with
a return code, on unopened, unused products.
Email
us for RETURN CODE number. Please include order number and customer name
with this email.
When you return the product include a copy of the sales receipt, and indicate
refund or product exchange on the package.
NO RETURNS (unless defective) on open product
packages, sale items, potty training products, personalized products, special
orders, or wholesale purchases.
DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS - Items received defective will be
replaced within the first 30 days after order.
PRODUCT WARRANTY - My Precious Kid is not responsible
for replacement of defective items after 30 days. Please contact us for
manufacturer's phone number for warranty issues. It will be the customer's
responsibility to contact the manufacturer for replacement according to their
warranty
policy.
REFUNDS - Refunds will be processed within 7 days of
return. Shipping charges are not refundable.
NOTE: Items returned in used or opened condition, or outside of return policy will be refunded at retail price, minus 50% fee. The items will be given to a local charity or needy family. If free shipping was given then the actual shipping will be deducted from the refunded amount.
