At My Precious Kid are so excited to have added cloth diapers to our store. I started the research process back in May 2010. We have added 7 diaper brands in the last few months. We carry cloth diaper brands: Blueberry, Knickernappies, Swaddlebees, Weehuggars, Thirsties, bumGenius, & Flip right now in our store. In the future we will hope to add Fuzzibunz, Charlie Banana, Gro Via, Bummies, Rumparooz and more. Please let us know which brands you would like to buy from us.
Since I cloth diapered back in 1982, the cloth diaper world has really changed. I am so in love with the beautiful new colors, prints, and fabrics. The new micro-terry, micro-fiber, hemp and bamboo inserts mean trim fitting diapers. The beautiful covers with snaps and aplix are simply amazing.
So I am looking for a CLOTH DIAPER EXPERT for our business. This would be a voluntary position with some fun perks.
THE PRIZE: The selected winner would receive a monthly free diaper or diaper product of our choosing and a special discount coupon for other purchases. The CHOSEN expert will recive a fun prize packakge to celebrate!!
Would you be interested in being a part of the My Precious Kid cloth diaper team? Do you see yourself as a cloth diaper expert who loves to help other moms see the benefits of cloth diapering? Are you knowledgeable enough to help answer cloth diaper questions from mothers on our Facebook page, twitter, etc? Yesterday I held a Flash Prize Giveaway on my Facebook fan page at http://www.facebook.com/MyPreciousKid I gained 1600 fans in the last 10 days because of the event. And my sponsors gained an average of 200+ fans each. We also sold a number of products in our online store. So others have asked me to tell how to do this kind or marketing event.
FIRST I announced the upcoming event 10 days in advance.
I posted on FB and my other forums that I was taking sponsors.
I emailed all the businesses I knew plus contacted the manufacturers of the products I sell.
I asked each if they would like to donate a prize in exchange for gaining new fans.
NOTEPAD: Then I opened a notepad on my computer desktop for the event.
I had 2 sections:
1. Sponsors agreed
2. Sponsors posted (in ABC order)
And as each sponsor agreed I put their info on the note pad in section 1.
Business name – person’s name / prize title / prize value / FB link
PRINT: I printed the notepad of sponsors before the event so I could write winners names on it
DISCUSSION TAB: Then I opened a post on the discussion tab in FB and listed the sponsors there as well.
Once they were listed there they move on the notepad to the post section.
I did wait until I had the first 25 or so before I did the first tab list.
BLOG POST: I also did a blog post with the list of sponsors as well.
This way fans could get the links in many ways.
I found mobile phone users had different needs.
RULES: In the discussions tab I also posted the rules.
1. Must “LIKE” the sponsors page
2. Post only ONE comment on each PRIZE POST tomorrow
3. Each person may only win ONCE during the event
4. INTERNATIONAL – winners may be required to pay the shipping for their prize
5. GIFT Certificates – winner may be required to pay shipping out the certificate.
6. EXCEPTION: all players (including previous winners ) may enter the final GRAND PRIZE
And I recommend that fans to “LIKE” the sponsors and tell them thank you days in advance of the event.
That saved the time the day of and also helped keep them out of comment jail. This helped build momentum for the event.
TRIAL RUN: I did a trial run a few days before with 4 prizes I donated. Many of the items were product samples I had received and was not carrying or items I was closing out. This helped me see how it would all work. I also contacted each sponsor and asked them to post an announcement on their FB fan page wall before we began.
COMMENT JAIL: Facebook is putting people in comment jail who comment or message too many too fast with the same words or phrases. That keeps them from being able to comment anywhere in FB for 24 hours or more. So give them a different word to comment for each prize post. If they get in jail they can use a different FB account. Let fans know in advanced to space out their comments.
*****************
FIRST PRIZE: For the first prize, one donated and not connected to a FB fan page, I asked them to all go post on the FB wall inviting friends to join us today. That got us off to a great start.
For the event I copied from the notepad, selected their FB fan page from the @ drop down.
And gave instructions to LIKE the sponsor and then comment here with the word “MyPreciousKid”
For each I had them comment with a word that was part of the sponsors name.
This helped keep them out of comment jail.
My goal was post a prize wait 5 minutes.
Then 5 minutes later post another prize.
In between I posted some items for sale and coupon codes etc.
I invited them to follow my blog / twitter / YouTube
I made sure every prize had at least 10 minutes before drawing a prize.
I typed CLOSED at the end of the replies.
Then used random.org to choose a comment number.
Then counted the comments to find the winner.
Copied their name, then hovered over and clicked message.
Sent them a message as winner (ask for contact info).
Then at end of prize post listed winner.
Then to top of FB wall posted winner.
One key was to start all prize posts as “PRIZE 69″ (and their number)
And I started all sale posts as “SALE”.
And all winners as “Winner PRIZE 69″
That way fans could find the prize posts easily.
After the 12 hour giveaway with 70 prizes worth $1900 I now need to email each sponsor with their winners contact info. I gained 1600 fans in the previous 10 days because of this event. And each sponsor gained 200 new fans on average. I hope this information will be helpful if you want to do your own event.
Monday 10/25/2010 9 am west coast time we will begin our FLASH PRIZE GIVEAWAY. I have over 50 prizes totally more than $1600 to giveaway on Monday 10/25/2010. And the number is growing. I will post prizes in intervals throughout the day. http://www.facebook.com/MyPreciousKid
To enter each you must:
1. Go “like” the sponsors Facebook fan page
(tell them we sent you – you can even do this now in advance of the event)
2. Come back on Monday and comment on the each prize post at http://www.facebook.com/MyPreciousKid
Then after a period of time (15-20 minutes) I will use Random.org to select one winner. I will announce the winner on the page. You will need to email us to claim to prize. The sponsor will email you about the address to send the prize.
I will verify that the winner chosen is still a fan of the sponsors page. Any winner chosen who is not still a fan of MY PRECIOUS KID LLC and the sponsors page will not receive their prize. Each winner will have 48 hours to respond to their Facebook notice with shipping info. After that another winner will be chosen. I do ask that after you receive your prize you please come back to my page and post about getting your prize and do the same on the sponsors page.
You may start now becoming fans of each sponsor. Please post on their wall telling them MY PRECIOUS KID sent you over. That will save you time on Monday. It also helps avoid comment jail on the day of the event.
NOTE: Some FB member have experienced COMMENT JAIL by posting too many comments in to short a time. Or by posting the same comment “done” for all entries close together. So spacing your comments and changing the wording does help. If you are caught in FB comment jail you lose the right to comment for 24-48 hours.
Please list your family friendly blog contests, giveaways and freebies for my readers. These must be family and child friendly. In the name field put your site name – item giving – date it ends, then list the link to the actual freebie or giveaway.

I have been helping moms to potty train their children for many years. I trained my first daughter in 1982. I trained my last daughter in 2002 in 2 weeks. My oldest daughter used this same system to train her daughter in 2008. It really does work!
When does it work:
1. When the parent is committed to the training
2. When the child shows the readiness signs in the article
3. When only cloth training pants are used
When might it not work
1. If your child has medical issues or special cognitive delays
2. If you start before the readiness signs are there
3. When the parent is not committed to doing the whole program
4. When the child is placed in paper pull-ups
Here is what 3 moms have said after using the program:
MOM COMMENTS: I potty trained my 23 month old daughter using the Potty Training 101 method and strongly recommend it. The most important parts, in my opinion, are: the pre-training, using cloth and ONLY cloth, being consistent about having your child on the potty on a regular basis, and never giving in, even when the going is
rough. This means a plastic cover over trainers ALWAYS. Don’t ever give your child permission to pee in their pants by expecting that they won’t be able to hold it. Do whatever it takes to get to the bathroom so they can be successful. With these things in mind, you can be successful. Dena
MOM COMMENTS: Potty training 101 worked for me At age 20 months it took us 3 days and that was accident free. She NEVER had an accident (except at night) and has continued to NEVER have had an accident!!! Do it your way and potty training is a breeze. Cassie
MOM COMMENTS: Thank you for Potty Training 101. I have successfully potty trained 2 children using Kay’s method. My daughter was 22 months when we started and was accident free in a couple weeks. My son was 24 months when we started and also accident free in a couple weeks. Both of them had never gone potty on the toilet before we started Potty Party Day. On that day, we threw away all diapers and bought underwear. It is not easy and takes time and dedication but that is why it’s called TRAINING! We stayed home for 2 weeks straight and read story after story while sitting on the toilet until they went. Put your schedule aside for a couple weeks and have fun with it. Thanks, Kay! Looking forward to doing it again with my youngest in about 6 months. There is such a feeling of accomplishment for the child and parent, too! Hannah
