Marketing: Offer a Free Item

I am always looking for ways to increase my business exposure. So I worked to figure out who is my specific niche market. My market is all parents however I decided to focus on new parents who need help, education and products to keep their kids safer.

So I decided to offer a free Car Seat ID Card (that we make) to new moms. I put it here http://www.mypreciouskid.com/free-gift-new-baby.html  I blogged about it. I post it on twitter and Facebook often. I contacted a bunch of freebie sites and asked them to list it. In order to get the free item they have to either: Follow our blog, twitter or Facebook which keeps them watching us.

I have found this a great way to get my products exposed to my niche market, new moms. I include a catalog and coupon. We have sent out about 400 so far and already the code has been used 64 times. So it has more than paid for itself.

If you know anyone expecting a new baby or gave birth this year would you tell them about our free gift program at http://www.mypreciouskid.com/free-gift-new-baby.html  If you have a blog you are welcome to share it there too. If you offer a free item for news moms please email me and let me know the link. I have a page on blog where I like to list those.

Is there something you can offer free to your niche market to gain new exposure?

NEW PRODUCT: Baby’s First Journal: Feeding, Sleeping, Diaper Log

Remember those middle of the night feedings. As a new mom, who is tired and barely awake you try to remember which side did the baby nurse on last. The Baby’s First Journal is the answer to that trouble. It is just the right size, portable and lets you track everything your baby does in those early week. My daughter had twin boys and tracking it all was even more important. Baby’s First Journal is a comprehensive log book enabling parents to track the eating, sleeping and diapering schedules of their newborn. Easy to use and portable, this journal will help in understanding the baby’s needs and assist in developing a daily routine. A must-have for all parents! http://www.mypreciouskid.com/babys-first-journal-feeding.html

NEW PRODUCT: Fireplace Hearth Bumper Guard

Keeping my children safe from bumps and bruises on our brick fireplace hearth was such a concern to me. I found the KIDCO Hearth Guard. It is a soft foam padded bumper guard that protects my children from injury on our brick fireplace hearth. I love that it is non-adhesive yet stays put. The KIDCO foam Hearth Guard is non-toxic and flame retardant. It fits hearths up to 8′ long. The inside non-skid cushion protects the hearth. The steel corners with foam padding provide stabilty. The adjustment strap keeps it tightly in place. This is the child proofing product I was looking for. http://www.mypreciouskid.com/fireplace-hearth-bumper-guard.html

Building Business – How Is It Done?

Kay with daughter Haley and granddaughter MadisonOthers have asked and wondered how I built this business from 1 product working from home to 150+ products and retail store in 8 years. The bottom line is Prayer, God’s blessing, lots of hard work, perseverance, great employees and working it as a business every week day. It truly has come 1 day and 1 product at a time. In the process I have learned a few things

1.    I took a free SEO class from Cricket Get her ebook
2.    I learned that every product has to have its own page and own unique keyword phrase
3.    I discovered I needed to stay in my niche of child safety and do it well
4.    I was able to enlarge the niche after a while to add safe baby gear and it multiplied our sales
5.    I learned about social media 1.5 years ago and gained a great following
6.    I created a free item to give away at events by local and far away, gaining new audience
7.    I placed a link for the free item for new parents ( my niche market)
8.    I added a child safety blog to talk about what we are doing

I have to budget my time. I do give time to social media (Facebook, twitter) for business every day. And I learned to write short blog posts often. Taking the time to build each products page has been a key for our business growth. We are in the top 10 on Google for most of our product key word phrases. Google traffic accounts for 75% of our traffic.
What is next? I plan to work hard to double our sales over the next 2 years. I will be adding more products and increasing my marketing. I will continue to stay in our niche of child safety and safe baby gear products.

If you are running an event for parents,  contact us about receiving free car seat ID card or travel wristbands for the goodie bags at your event.
