We found the solution. The Melissa and Doug wooden magnetic chore chart (also called a responsibility chart) will do the job. My 8 year old daughter was excited to hang this chart in her room. Each day she moves the reward token for each chore she completes. At the end of the week I pay her allowance based on the number of chores she has completed that week.
