My daughter Haley (age 9) has been talking about doing a project to help the needy. Her scout group did a project to help kids in 3rd world countries but she wanted to do something to help local kids in need. Then we found out there are 150+ homeless school age children in our city of Hillsboro Oregon.
So she wants to do a SOCK DRIVE. We understand that having new clean dry socks is a gift in the winter months. So we are going to ask friends, family and community to help us collect new socks for kids, teens and adults in need.
Fred Meyer has their annual 1/2 price sale on the Friday after Thanksgiving so it is the perfect way to stretch our giving. So if you would like to donate, bring new socks for children, teens, men or women to My Precious Kid in Hillsboro, OR. We are located on the corner of 5th and Baseline across from Hutchins Appliance and Hillsboro Vacuum. We are open from 9 am – 4 pm M-F.
Our local youth group is collecting clean coats (used and new) for the homeless. So if you have coats you want to donate, we can pass them on as well.
Thanks in advanced for helping my daughter learn that it is better to give. And that one person can make a differnce.

Amy Renzema is a 9 year old friend of my daughter Haley. We have known this family since the girls were in preschool. Amy recently gave up her birthday to collect gifts for others. Amy made and delivered 28 Build-a-bears to needy children, like those at Ronald McDonald’s House.
