September is Baby Safety Month

September is baby safety month, so no matter what stage your baby is at, or maybe your child it is a good time to re-evaluate the safety of your home.

home-safetyBaby proofing your home is one task that will never end from the moment you have children until they are grown up children.  There are safety precautions that one must take that change from age to age for a child.  While small babies require a safe crib, car seat and properly heated bath water, an older child needs to be safe from sharp objects, and keep items such as medicine out of there reach.

September is baby safety month, so no matter what stage your baby is at, or maybe your child it is a good time to re-evaluate the safety of your home.  Because the truth is the safety inspections and baby or childproofing is not a task that should be done only once and then forgotten.  It is a task that you must do continually as your child grows and changes.

Revisit the biggies such as securing heavy appliances, TV’s,  and furniture, but recheck the small things as well such as light socket covers to make sure they are properly placed.  Also as your child grows be sure and educate them about safety in and around your home.

You might want to teach them how to dial 911 in case of an emergency, the technique of stop, drop and roll in case of a fire and even your exit plan.  Educate them about opening the door to strangers and what to do if an intruder breaks in your home.

These are all things that you can do to help keep your child safe.  Do whatever it takes. We can help you at My Precious Kid Child Safety Store.
