Sippy Cup Germs!

Sippy cups, while super convenient, can also be full of germs. This is especially true if your child gets the wrong cup. While it is not fun to think about, it does happen in daycares and even in Church nurseries.

Most nurseries recommend that you write your child’s name on all of their belongings, especially bottles and cups.  The problem with that is you end up with cups and bottles that have your child’s name written in black magic marker.  While this is a popular way to keep cups in the hand of the proper owner, it is not very attractive, or practical.  If you have more than one child around the same age you could make the mistake of sending your child to school with a cup bearing their siblings name.

Another problem with this method is that it permanently marks the cup, and even if you can scrub some of the marker off, most of the time the entire name will not come off.

There is a better option out there to take care of the ever present labeling issue, name labels.  These are super durable bands that fit around the cup or bottle.  Most of them are made of silicone, and come personalized with your child’s name on them.  They are available in a variety of sizes, so finding one to fit your brand of bottle or sippy cup is not a problem.  The thing I love most about the name labels is that you can simply slide them off to clean the item.  If you have more than one child simply order labels with each child’s name.

With all of the germs that constantly circulate in a nursery environment, making sure your child gets the right cup or bottle can help them avoid a little sickness.
