Celebrating 8 Years
Eight years ago, My Precious Kid was born. Out of a desire to help parents protect their children, Kay Green created My Precious Kid, a Web site designed to sell personalized children’s ID cards. Seven years later, she was able to open a brick and mortar retail store, now selling over 120 different safe baby products both online and off.
Kay’s story is certainly one of success and gives other work-at-home parents hope. My Precious Kid was a one-woman, online business that has grown into a full-blown retail storefront located in her hometown of Hillsboro, Oregon.
In May 2001, Kay purchased the domain name for her business. At the time, she had a newborn daughter, another in junior high school, a son in high school, and a daughter in college — and she was homeschooling. Talk about having your hands full!
Today, three of her children are young adults, one has children of her own, and her youngest is in 3rd grade. Kay is busy running a successful business, and sales are up from 2008 in spite of the recessed economy. Her business is at the top of search engine rankings, and she continues to receive and process 30 to 60 orders a day.
