Cure Boredom on Roadtrips

TRAVEL WITH CHILDREN If you’re the parent of a small child and you’ve ever been with them in the car for any length of time then you’ve probably experienced the childhood boredom syndrome. They seem to get bored quite easily and with their boredom comes your misery.
Therefore, if possible you want to cure your child’s boredom before it begins, by being prepared. Prepare the following to help combat boredom:
PACK SOME SNACKS Snacks are a great way to cure boredom, plus their going to get hungry anyway and you don’t want to have to stop every few hours especially on a long road trip. So pack healthy, non-messy snacks such as pretzels, animal crackers, and juice boxes to help keep your child busy and full.
BRING ALONG MOVIES If you have one a portable DVD player is a must on a road trip. Along with a few good kid’s movies you are sure to have peace for a good number of hours with this packed in your car.
PAPER AND PENCIL What kid doesn’t like to draw, play tic tac toe or write down the states or places as you pass through. You can make a game of almost anything and having a pad and pen ready for them is a great way to invent more games as you go along.
RIGHT CAR SEAT The right seat will fit the correctly and comfortably. Babies should be rear facing until 12 months PLUS 20 pounds. They are even safer rear facing to 30 pounds. Kids should be in a 5 point harness until age 4 plus 40 pounds. They are even safer in 5 point harness in right car seat to 80 pounds in the RADIAN 80 car seat.
MAKE KIDS SAFE. Attach a child Carseat ID card to their Carseat or booster seat. It provides information to make them safer in a car accident. These are available in the Child Safety Pack by MyPreciousKid.com
As you can see the things that you pack for the trip to combat boredom don’t have to be that earth shattering, just be creative, think like a kid and use your imagination. Doing so ahead of time and being prepared will help you to have a little more sanity on your next roadtrip.
