Q. At what age can a child use CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint?
A. Children must be at least 1 year old, weigh 22 pounds, and be able to sit
“front facing” to use CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint.
Q. What is the upper age limit for children to use CARES Kids Fly Safe
aviation restraint?
A. Children who are 4 years old, weigh at least 44 pounds and are more than
40 inches tall are considered old enough and strong enough to travel without
an airplane child safety belt.
CARES Kids Fly Safe is designed specifically for aviation use for children
age 1 and older who weigh between 22 and 44 pounds. These youngsters are old
enough to be in their own seats, but are too small for the seat belt alone
to protect them. We know they are much safer in a 5 point harness than a
seatbelt alone. Their bodies cannot withstand the jolts that are common in
routine plane trips. The Cares Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint keeps them
safe in a 5 point harness much like a Radian car seat.
Q. When flying with children do you have to buy a ticket to use CARES Kids
Fly Safe aviation restraint?
A. A child must be in his/her own seat to use CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation
restraint. Airlines require all children age 2 and older to have their own
tickets and to be in their own seats.
Q. Do I need permission from my airline to use CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation
restraint?
A. No. CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint is certified by the FAA for
use on all U.S. registered airlines. Because CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation
restraint is a new product and is a unique harness type child safety
restraint, some airline personnel may not yet be familiar with it . Parents
have the right to bring CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint on board for
their children and airline personnel may not prevent you from using CARES
Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint for your child. This is a Federal Aviation
Administration decision and it applies to all U.S. airlines.
CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint is manufactured exclusively by AmSafe

for use in automobiles and does not work with a three-point (shoulder)

CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint is an innovative belt-and-buckle
child airplane restraint that attaches directly to the airplane seat belt

STEP ONE: Seat your child in the airplane seat he or she will occupy.
STEP TWO: Lower the tray table behind your child’s seat.
STEP THREE: Slide the RED LOOP of the CARES restraint over the seat back,
adjust the height of the RED LOOP so it is just above your child’s
shoulders, and tighten it. Then close the tray table covering the Red Loop.
STEP FOUR: Place the BLACK SHOULDER STRAPS over your child’s shoulders and
slide the buckle and connecter ends of the regular airplane seat belt
through the loops at the bottom of the BLACK SHOULDER STRAPS.
STEP FIVE: Buckle the seat belt and pull it snugly across your child’s lap
as you normally would do – and then buckle the chest clip and snug down the
Shoulder Straps.
